IMB & SFB 1361 Conference - The evil within: Regulation and repair of endogenous DNA damage

Your little scientists are in good care while you attend our conference with a bit of a relieve!

We understand that in some cases, attending a conference and family responsibilities can coincide to present a challenge for families. We acknowledge this challenge and are delighted to partner with Das Sahnehäubchen to provide free onsite childcare for registered participants of the IMB & SFB1361 Conference 2026. Registration for childcare will be handled on a first-come first-served basis as spaces are limited.

Please note that a place for your child(ren) is(are) only considered reserved after you have received a written confirmation from the conference managers.

In case of cancellation (e.g. change of plans, sickness, no longer attending, etc.), please inform us earliest possible to ensure available places can be offered to others who may be on the waiting list. Notice of cancellation (with your name and reason) must be communicated in writing by email to the conference managers: sfb1361@imb.de

• Children from ages 0 to 12 years old are welcome.
• Parents must provide diapers and anything specific that their children may need (excluding medicines)
  • Please administer any necessary medication to your child before arrival, as the childcare staff cannot administer medications.
  • For babies and toddlers under the ages of 2, we request that parents bring their baby stroller/buggy along for use by the child carers for your child(ren).
• Water, snacks, and fruits will be provided. The childcare staff will also have access to the conference catering for meals for your child(ren).
  • Parents are free to pick up their children during the coffee breaks and meal times to join them in the Foyer and Atrium.
• Parents can drop off their child(ren) at the registration counters to the childcare staff at the start of the day.
• For safety of your child(ren), please ensure that you have a photo ID when dropping off and picking up your child(ren).
• Parents must remain at the conference venue (IMB Mainz) at all times while their child(ren) are with the childcare service for contact in case of any emergencies.
• Children are allowed to join their parent(s) during the excursion and conference dinner. Childcare services are not provided during this period as the parent will not be onsite at the conference venue (IMB Mainz).
• Age-appropriate activities will be organised by the agency
• The working languages of the childcare service are German and/or English.

It is important for you to pick up your child on time at the end of each day's programme.

Location

A dedicated family room for childcare is located within the premises of IMB. This ensures easy accessibility for your convenience.

Besides the family room, the childcarers will also have access to IMB's Library Zone and the surrounding area on JGU Campus (Central Mensa and Botanical Gardens; Weather permitting).
